There is also a Saturday worship service at 5:00 pm each Saturday.
St. Barnabas has been serving this community since 1987. We currently have about 900 members: 700 adults and 200 children in 300 households.
In many ways, St. Barnabas is “un-unique”. We are a Christian community who proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We recognize and value the ministries at our neighboring congregations in the community. But there are some things about St. Barnabas which are unique. Some of these are:
- We are a liturgical congregation with varied liturgies — traditional, folk, and contemporary
- Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday
- Children are valued participants in our worship each week
- Young people may commune as early as age 3 (First Communion classes are offered twice a year)
- Lay members share in worship leadership
- Children age 3 through 2nd grade participate in our unique Good Shepherd School on Saturday morning at 10:00. Good Shepherd School offers an innovative and integrated program of drama, art, and music. Lighthouse Confirmation (grades 3-5) meets Wednesdays from 4-5:45 p.m. and Navigator Confirmation (grades 6-8) meets Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m.
- Senior High "ReVamp," Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
- We seek to be a “permission-giving” congregation. We have an organizational structure that encourages members to begin new ministries without having to go through a maze of decision-making committees.
We recognize the importance of small group activities and our members plan a wide variety of opportunities: Bible studies, family outings, singles outings, sports (golf, skiing…), and gatherings centered on food and fellowship.
St. Barnabas is located at 15600 Old Rockford Road in Plymouth, MN -- one block east of Vicksburg Lane on Old Rockford Road.
