The winner of first prize in 1992 Hong Kong Young Artist Competition in Gu Zheng. Ms. Yu has long had a passion for music. A native of Hong Kong, China. Ms. Yu began her study of guzheng with Mr. Ying-Ki Mo while she was in middle school and performed at different venues such as her school and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and she was awarded many merits at the Hong Kong Interschool Music Festival. Later when she came to the United States to further her study, she studied music with Julia Elkina. After she received her Bachelor degree at the University of Minnesota, she studied for her Master degree in Arts Management at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma and later graduated summa cum laude.

After Ms. Yu graduated with the Master in Arts Management degree, she was active advancing herself that she took many graduated music seminars during summers at the University of St. Thomas. She had been active in serving as musician in Oklahoma and has been active playing music for churches in Minnesota. She also had taught a Friday night children music program and children Sunday school at her church. She enjoys working with children and has taught children music at various locations in the Twin Cities area. She had been a member of the Minnesota Music Teacher Association and the Music Teacher National Association. She can teach in English, Chinese, and Cantonese. Her guzheng studio is located in Minnesota. She currently teaches guzheng, serving Minneapolis and its suburban areas include Minnetonka, Plymouth, Hopkins, Golden Valley and other areas.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband and child.
