KRISTEN WEEKS High Strings Violin, Viola Kristen Sammartano Weeks graduated in 2000 from the College of St. Catherine with a B.A. in Education and a minor in Music. She has taught violin on and off for eleven years to students ages 3-22, though she has specialized in teaching young and/or beginning students, including those involved in the summer beginner and string orchestra programs for 4th and 5th graders in the Mounds View School District, and the summer string program at Minnehaha Academy. Kristen studied violin under Jim Riccardo (concertmaster for many touring Broadway productions) in college. She herself has performed with several musical theater companies around the Twin Cities for the past six years, including productions with the Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company, with New Breath Productions, and, often as a solo violinist, with Bloomington Civic Theatre. She has also played with the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra, and, most recently, in a small acoustic ensemble that performs at local coffeehouses. Apart from teaching or playing violin, Kristen also works as an early childhood educator, working with toddlers in a teen parent program in Richfield for District 287. |
