Lisa Berman received her Masters in Violin Performance from the Yale School of Music in 1997, studying with noted violinist, recording artist and professor of music Erick Friedman. Her Yale studies also included work with Syoko Aki (who soloed with, among others, Seiji Ozawa) and David Nadien (former concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic). She has also studied with Almita Vamos of Oberlin Conservatory, five-time winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in teaching.Lisa received her B.A. summa cum laude in Music from Yale in 1996. In her undergraduate years, she studied music theory and composition at Oxford University, England.
A native of the Twin Cities, Lisa has soloed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and at Tanglewood. She taught violin in Pittsburgh and has recently returned to the Cities.
Lisa has played with a large number of orchestras and served as Concertmistress to both the Yale Bach Society Orchestra and the Super Bowl XXVI Halftime Show Orchestra.
