DR. MARY NEWTON

A native of Minnesota, Dr. Mary Newton is currently the Organist at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church in Plymouth and the Director of the St. Barnabas Lunch-time Organ Recital series.

Dr. Newton holds a BA degree in Music from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, a Master's in Church Music degree from Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, IL, and a DMA in organ performance from the University of Minnesota. She has also performed in master classes with Pamela Decker (University of Arizona), John Weaver (Julliard), and Swedish organist Hans Fagius (Royal Danish Academy of Music).

Dr. Newton is very active in the Twin Cities American Guild of Organists. She is the coordinator for the annual student organ competition and recently obtained the title of Colleague upon the successful completion of the National American Guild of Organists performance exam.
