We proudly announce the third season (2009-2010) of our Jazz@StBarney's series - a September-to-May string of monthly jazz sampler concerts held in our Ministry Center.

The programs are single-set offerings by some of the finest jazz artists in the Twin Cities. Admission is always $10 adults, $7 TCJS members and $5 students (SBCA students admitted free). There is no reserved seating, so buying tickets at the door will always work. All programs begin at 7 pm and last 60-75 minutes.

Seating is generally at tables, so you can easily enjoy the free popcorn, lemonade and coffee provided. It's a casual concert experience, good for both performers and audiences.

The 2009-2010 series:

Saturday, Sept. 12: MARY LOUISE KNUTSON: Making Sense of Jazz. Actually a part of our Masters of Music series, this lecture/concert serves as the perfect appetizer for the season to follow. Pianist for the JazzMN, Ms. Knutson was a Finalist in the Kennedy Center’s 2005 Mary Lou Williams "Women in Jazz" Pianist Competition and a 2006 Minnesota Music Awards Nominee for both Jazz Artist of the Year and Pianist of the Year. Saturday, Sept. 26: BEND IN THE RIVER BIG BAND. Formed in 1987 from Alumni of Gustavus Adolphus College, BRBB is popular at events throughout the Twin Cities.

Saturday, Oct. 24: TRAVIS ANDERSON TRIO. Outstanding piano work and one of the most fun musical outings you'll have all year.

Saturday, Nov. 21: MAUD HIXSON, jazz vocalist. Presented as "Best New Voice" at the Twin Cities Winter JazzFest in 2003, Maud has since become a favorite with audiences and musicians in clubs, concerts, and festivals.

Sunday, Dec. 27: BIG BAND CHRISTMAS, with Brian Richter and the GOOD NEWS BIG BAND and Adam Bestler and the JUST FRIENDS BIG BAND. It's a holiday spectacular at the perfect time - AFTER all the hustle and bustle of the pre-holiday rush. Come out, kick back and enjoy some dynamite big band arrangements of familiar holiday tunes.

Saturday, Jan. 16: CEASE & DESIST SMALL BIG BAND. A 7-piece group specializing in big band music, swing, 40's music - a jazz orchestra.

Saturday, Feb. 20: MOULDY FIGS. A "mouldy fig" is a person who studies and plays old jazz. The Mouldy Figs love to play music and have fun. Dixieland/Trad at its best!

Saturday, Mar. 13: LAURA CAVIANI. Everybody's first-call pianist - and once you hear her, you'll know why.

Saturday, Apr. 17: CAFÉ ACCORDION ORCHESTRA. A loungy, eclectic mix, full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude. The heart of the Café Accordion repertoire is the romantic, gypsy-influenced valse-musette.

Saturday, May 22: STAN BANN BIG BAND. Big, lush, exciting and innovative - perennial favorites at O'Gara's and St. Barney's and a perfect button to an exciting season of jazz.
