This is a call to
band and orchestra instrumentalists connected with St. Barnabas -
in even the thinnest or vaguest way,
i.e., whether through church membership, participation in St. Barnabas Center for the Arts, relative of either, friend of someone who's been here, a musician who just likes to play and is hearing about this - young and old, expert and beginner, folks who play every day and folks who haven't picked up their instrument in a decade or two.
We're going to celebrate the holidays by putting together another edition of the St. Barnabas Orchestra to play some seasonal music in the Ministry Center during coffee hours on Sunday, January 3. We are going to do this with one rehearsal in the Ministry Center, Saturday morning, Jan. 2, from 10:00 - 11:30. The music will be lots of fun, and there will be appropriate parts available for players of every skill level - beginner to professional. We do two short concerts - one at 10:00 AM and one at 11:30 AM on Sunday, 1/3. Each concert has 6 or 7 tunes and lasts about 15-18 minutes.
This is not part of the worship services at St. Barnabas - it's just time to have fun with each other and the music. It's a fabulous chance for our younger players to sit next to some seasoned pros.
NOTE: If you've played with us before, no need to register below - just telling him you'll be there.
There won't be any chair tests, any kind of pressure at all - just the shared joy of making music together and lighting up a smile or two.
Players of every level, experience and length of time since you last played are welcome. Feel free to invite your friends to play with us.
Jeff Whitmill will direct the group. Just one request: Please sign up by Dec. 20 so I can have music ready for everyone.
